The Learning CornerMusic in Second Grade
During Second Grade, students will:
· Identify wind, string, and percussion instruments by sight
·
Improvise instrument sounds with stories · Identify and perform music that gets louder and softer/ faster and slower · Identify and perform the following notes and rests: quarter note, quarter rest, eighth note pair, single eighth note, eighth rest, half note, and half rest
·
· Compose short rhythmic patterns using notes and rests · Echo rhythmic and melodic patterns · Use body percussion to demonstrate the meter of a song · Perform two ostinatos at a time as a class
·
· Identify characteristics of ballet by viewing selections from “The Nutcracker”
·
Draw and identify components of the staff including, 5 lines, 4
